Thanksgiving weekend 2011

On November 23rd, we kicked off the holiday weekend by celebrating Kensley's 3rd Birthday! We had some awesome "gooey Chicken" for dinner (chicken stuffed with cheese and ham), and plenty of cake and ice cream! The look on the birthday girls face the whole night, was priceless! Her and her super mom also had some amazing personal touches that made this birthday party special and unique. Including our placemats, which were decorated by Kensley, and laminated by her teacher mom for us to enjoy for years to come!

We kicked off Thanksgiving with the second annual "Frank Trot." This is our take on the Turkey trot. Last year, when we attempted to run a 5k outside near my parents house, it was far too frigid, so instead we opted to run on the treadmill in my parents basement...thus the Frank trot emerged. This year, however, given it was almost 60 degrees and sunny on Thanksgiving morning, we opted for an outside run...which went mostly okay except when Piper decided to go on her own trot and trotted right out of her collar and leash...I'm most thankful this thanksgiving that it was at that exact moment that she also had to go to the bathroom, and was easy to catch...crisis averted. The rest of the day we spent with family, starting with the Glass family in Osseo and followed by the Harper family in Farmington. Both delicious meals...which we are still working off at the gym!

Finally, we wrapped up the weekend with my favorite time of the year....DECORATING for Christmas! All in all, it was a great kick off to the holiday season, and we look forward to time spent with family and friends in the coming weeks!

A 21st Birthday...McQ style

On Saturday, November 19th, my baby brother Joe turned 21! Unfortunately, on Saturday November 19th, Central Minnesota saw it's first snow storm of the year, causing Hwy 94 between the cities and SJU to close as Joe was on his way back to college to celebrate with his buds...so instead, he got to turn around and party with his family...just what every 21 year old dreams about I'm sure! :)

So Mike and I were put in charge of the booze (I'm not quite sure why that's always our responsibility, but people must think we are good at it or something!) and we headed up to Eden Prairie to my parent's house to celebrate for the night. The rest of the night was spent around my parents kitchen table eating, drinking, teaching them how to play drinking card games ("P&A" turned into "princesses and jerks" for the little ones) and a lot of laughs.

This was also a great excuse for Mike and I to test out our new purchase, a brand new camera! We/I absolutely LOVE it, and I was able to capture some great pictures of the night!

Additionally, my family is in to supporting MOVEMBER, but the McQuillan men, apart from my dad are not so great at growing a mustache, so a fake one played a pretty prominent role in the evening. Overall, I'd call the night a success for us, and hopefully a good consolation party for my little bro!

Happy birthday Joe!!

The Birthday boy...a Guiness and a cupcake!
Mason loved uncle Joe's hat!

I never realized how much my older bro and my dad looked unlike...until the mustache!
Kensley supporting Movember!
Who says you can't do Whiskey shots when you're not at the bar!

Thanks to Joe's GF Leah for organizing a great party!
